Owner Sharon Gilley tells Local Fare Magazine that she lost the space she was renting inside the historic Market Street building. Additionally, efforts to find a joint partner failed. Both resulted in the decision to close the restaurant.
In a letter to Local Fare Magazine, Gilley shared her sadness and gratitude.
We’re deeply saddened to announce the closing of The English Rose after twenty years of business. We lost our building lease and plans to bring on an additional owner fell through. Our doors closed for the final time on August 26th. To most of us, The English Rose has been more than a restaurant. It has been a place of celebration, friendships, and refuge in a hectic world. We thank you for being our customers in this unique, endearing place. We will miss serving you, celebrating you, and being part of your lives.
