Chattanooga Rolfing + Integrative Bodywork already has a dedicated following after less than a year in business, but many still don’t know what Dr. Erik Maklan does.
Integrative Bodywork is a holistic approach to finding comfort in your body by relieving pain in muscles, joints and connective tissue.
Dr. Eric Maklan’s own life was transformed by Rolfing® Structural Integration.
While in graduate school studying Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology, he developed severe pain from a series of minor rock climbing injuries. His doctors, unable to pinpoint the origin of his pain, weren’t able to guide him to recovery.
“I tried prescription pain killers and muscle relaxants, physical therapy, acupuncture, chiro- practic care, and deep-tissue massage. Each helped in its own way, but only for a limited time,” he shares.
His pain continued until he tried Rolfing® Structural Integration. “The Rolfer worked on areas of my body that seemed unrelated to my pain. I felt like I was melting on the table as the tension was released. After one session, my pain was almost gone. It was like a thorn had been removed. Bodywork has improved my physical and mental well-being in ways I could not have imagined.”
Dr. Maklan immediately embarked on his journey to becoming a Certified Rolfer. His PhD studies proved to be the perfect foundation of his newfound career path. He trained in both Integrative Bodywork and Structural Integration and earned certification to treat common injuries and perform neural mobilization. He operated his own practice in California for five years before choosing to relocate to Tennessee.
“I’m very excited to bring Rolfing and Integrative Bodywork to Chattanooga and share the benefits with you!”
